Raw Video/Audio Support
Supported Media Formats
There are 2 main ways to playback content in Boxee.
When an RSS feed is consumed by your Boxee application, the feed is parsed and stored in a container that can be accessed via the UI or Python. An internal "listitem" is created for each item contained within the RSS. For the most part Boxee is good at guessing the content type you are trying to play. However its always a good idea to hint boxee to this mime-type in your rss feed.
<media:content url="http://mysite.com/video/test.mov" type="video/quicktime">
Playing content via the Python API is simple. If you read the above regarding "listitems" you'll know that every media item in boxee is stored as a "listitem". This listitem is sent to the Boxee player. Whether it be audio, video, images or web page urls. Because of this, you cannot simply pass the url of your content to the player, a listitem must be created first to define the content and assign properties.
listItem = mc.ListItem(mc.ListItem.MEDIA_VIDEO_UNKNOWN)
listItem.SetLabel('My Test Video')
